This sculpture "Hatchling" depicts a baby Royal Guard Dragon struggling to free herself from her egg.
The Knarwood Manuscript, from Medieval times, documents that following the birth of a prince or princess, a member of the Dragon Keeper Guild would Place a Royal Guard Dragon egg in the baby's bassinet. the pure and plentiful warm energy generated by the new born baby would nourish the baby dragon and accelerate its development so it would hatch in only three days. When the hatchling emerged from its egg, it would bond with the infant prince or princess becoming his or her guardian for life.
